TOP TEN: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Most Wanted Marvel Characters

The follow-up to last week's Top Ten, we'll go ahead and continue the most wanted characters in the newly announced Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. Last week we went over all the Capcom specific characters, so it's only fair we do the same for the Marvel side of the fight this week. I'm going to go ahead and say it now, I skipped over some of the obvious choices, such as Storm or Deadpool, as they seem like shoo-ins at this point anyway.

Looking at the previous games' rosters, it's cool to see some of the characters that made it, while some characters that should have were surprisingly missing. This list covers characters that I hope to see return, characters that are surprisingly missing, and characters that would be interesting newcomers. So, let's get this started!

10. Silver Surfer

First Appearance: Fantastic Four #48

This one could be a long shot, but I think it'd be cool to play as ol' SS. Badly needing to redeem himself from his failed NES title anyway, Silver Surfer would obviously be better at range and speed, while his attack strength and defense would be low. ...And no, that's not a pun geared towards his weaknesses in the classic 8-bit game he starred in...

9. Thor

First Appearance: Journey into Mystery #83

How did this god not make it in, but his main villain did? This makes no sense to me. Thor needs to send his hammer and lightning down on his foes in the new sequel. I can see a high attack, pretty good defense, and low speed for this mighty man, and it's surprising to see he hasn't been in one of the fighters before now.

8. Nick Fury

First Appearance: Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos #1

This bad ass mother fucker is surprisingly missing from past games. Considering he's a master of armed and unarmed combat, including two styles of martial arts, he'd have a diverse moveset. There's practically no reason why he's not in yet, and he'd be a great addition to the newest edition of the fighter.

7. Songbird

First Appearance: Marvel Two-in-One #54

The Marvel universe's rendition of Mortal Kombat's Sindel, the villain-turned-hero could easily use her supersonic vocals for close and ranged attacks. The Marvel universe certainly needs more women in it, and I think she'd be a fairly average femme fatale for the job, better used at range with a weaker defense.

6. Invisible Woman

First Appearance: Fantastic Four #1

The female warrior of the Fantastic Four, it seems she'd be kinda lame for a fighter since she only turns invisible, right? However, she also has a force field that she can use to protect herself, as well as shape the psionic stylings of her force field into projectile weapons. She, too, seems like she'd be better at range and could have a good defense, but doesn't seem like she'd be very good on the close physical offense.

5. Ms. Marvel

First Appearance: Marvel Super-Heroes #13

This beauty is practically the female version of Superman. The woman could, at one point, create white holes! She has flight, strength, speed, durability... I really can't think of any reason she shouldn't be in, except for lack of balance, as I can't really find a weakness to her.

4. Jubilee

First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #244

Alright, alright, this one is a personal favorite. I understand there's little to nothing good about a character that can create fireworks. Hell, she's not even playable in many X-Men games. But isn't the satisfaction of beating someone with a character that may be able to join Roll in "Roll Tier" that much better?

3. Human Torch

First Appearance: Fantastic Four #1

Another member of the Fantastic Four, the Human Torch could be the most fun. Zipping around the screen on fire, I think he'd have a decent strength, good speed, and great defense (would YOU punch a man-sized fire?). I'm sure good ol' "Flame On" would be a great new addition to the roster.

2. Gambit

First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men Annual #14

Yeah, yeah, shut up. Gambit's been in several, if not all, of the past Marvel/Capcom crossovers. But look at TvC - Ken, a character since Street Fighter I, didn't make the cut. This pretty much grants Gambit a spot on this list. Not much else to be said about his moves or strengths - we've seen them all already, right?

1. Psylocke

First Appearance: Captain Britain (vol. 1) #8(UK)/New Mutants Annual #2(US)

So, I'm into video games more than comics. So, my team is normally made up of nearly all Capcom characters - except Psylocke. Normally the only character I choose on the Marvel side in MvC2, Psylocke is easily one of my favorite characters in the game. In fact, if I'm not just screwing around, my party will always consist of Cammy and Psylocke. So the psychic woman needs to return in order for me to fully appreciate MvC3. ...Don't worry, I'll still play it regardless, just not as happily.
